In an exclusive conversation with Faridoon Shahryar, the composer spoke honestly about his journey, his emotional sacrifices, and why music has always come first, even when it led to heartbreak.

Amaal’s relationship with music began at a very young age. At just eight years old, he began playing a Casio keyboard, unaware that this small beginning would become a lifelong commitment. Born into a family where music is a legacy, Amaal grew up surrounded by melodies and expectations.

During the interview, Amaal made it clear that his main goal has never changed. He wants to be remembered as the composer of this generation who kept the soul of classical Bollywood music alive. At a time when trends change fast and songs are forgotten quickly, Amaal believes in timeless melodies that stay with people for years.

One of the most honest moments came when Faridoon asked him about love. He was asked whether the women he falls in love with ever feel jealous of his piano, considering how deeply he is involved with music. Amaal didn’t hesitate to answer. He revealed that he has had three breakups because of his dedication to music.

He explained that he had given music so much priority that it became difficult for his partners to accept. According to Amaal, when someone is deeply connected to their art, there is very little emotional space for anything else. The people in his life expected time, presence, and attention — things he often ended up giving to his music instead.

Amaal clarified that he never intentionally chose music over the people he loved. However, music is not just his profession; it is his emotional world. It stays with him all the time, even when he is not composing. This level of involvement made it hard for his relationships to survive.

He described music as his way of connecting to the soul and the energies around him. For Amaal, creating music is almost spiritual. It is how he understands emotions, processes pain, and connects with people he has never even met.
