Arijit Singh has announced retirement from playback singing. The singer took to his social media handle to declare. The singer has earned immense love over the years, with his voice building a dedicated fanbase. Now that he has announced his retirement from playback singing, fans and followers have expressed deep sorrow, hailing him for his work.
He wrote, “Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey,” he further added, “God has been really kind to me. I am a fan of good music and, in the future, will learn more and do more on my own as a small little artist. Thanks again for all your support. I still have to finish some pending commitments, and I will finish them. So you might get some releases this year. Just to be clear that I won’t stop making music,” per The Hindu.

His last song was from Salman Khan starrer Battle Of Galwan—Maatrubhumi. The song has crossed 18 million views as of now, featuring Salman Khan and Chitrangada sharing the screen together. Alongside Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal also pioneered the beautiful song. The song video featured moments in which we see Salman Khan playing the role of Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, juggling his uniformed life and, of course, family.
Soon after Arijit Singh announced his retirement, one said it hurt more than a ‘breakup,’ while others chimed in, calling it an inspiration—his decision to retire and pursue independent music at the peak of his career.
