All India Cine Workers Association bans Mika Singh for performing at a wedding in Pakistan

In the wake of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the dark clouds swirling over India-Pakistan relations have resulted in an unlikely casualty, in maverick Bollywood singer and musician, Mika Singh.

As per reports in the media, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has declared a boycott on Mika Singh and banned him from working in the film industry, after it was revealed that the singer had performed at the wedding of the daughter of a billionaire Pakistani businessman in Karachi.

After India took the tough decision of repealing Article 370 in J&K, Pakistan had snapped all diplomatic and trade ties with India in protest, along with imposing a blanket ban on Indian entertainment, including films, music and online content.

In light of the gravity of the situation, the AICWA has not taken kindly to Mika performing at the high profile event. The businessman in question is former Pak PM Parvez Musharraf’s cousin, which makes it all the more embarrassing for India. Mika’s performance had allegedly taken place on 8th August, bang in the middle of grave tensions with the neighboring country.

The video of Mika’s performance at the wedding has gone viral on social media, inviting severe backlash from the Indian Twitterati, and also, jibes from their Pakistani counterparts.

As per a statement released by AICWA to the media, the association has taken the decision of boycotting the singer from working with film production houses, music companies and online music content providers.

AICWA President Suresh Gupta added that he will make sure that no one works with Mika Singh in India and if anyone does, he will face legal consequences in the court of law.

The statement stressed on the fact that at a time when the tension between India and Pakistan is at its peak, Mika has put money above the nation.

As per sources, Mika Singh has reportedly charged 1 Cr INR for the performance.

All said and done, we hope both parties resolve this issue quickly and amicably. Bollywood would definitely be poorer with the loss of a musical talent like Mika Singh.
