On the Season 46 finale of Saturday Night Live, Lil Nas X made his musical guest debut, delivering his two most recent hits and having a wardrobe malfunction live on television. During the rapper’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” performance, Lil Nas X’s flaming leather trousers appear to rupture in the upper thigh area just after he began reenacting the contentious stripper pole moment from the “Montero” music video.

“NOT MY PANTS WERE RIPPED ON LIVE TV. “OMFG NO,” Lil Nas X said “I wanted to perform my pole routine so bad this is what I get lmaoo,” he said. Later, he stressed that the malfunction was unintentional, saying, “I know I do a lot of premeditated crap, but tearing my trousers on live television is not one of them.”

He stated that he was first “afraid to even perform,” as he provided further specifics about the performance. “Then we practiced for two weeks, then all of the dancers were dismissed since one had covid and new ones had to learn the routine in 24 hours,” he said on Twitter. “And then I ripped my trousers and couldn’t continue.” But everything occurs for a purpose, right?”

The season 46 finale featured a musical performance by Lil Nas X. His performance on the show was described as his “best night of my career.” Earlier this week, his song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” maintained its position as the most popular song in the world, spending the sixth week at the top of the Billboard Global 200 list.
