BTS recently announced a partnership with Apple Music to provide BTS Radio: Past & Present, a three-episode radio show, to fans in over 160 countries and territories. The goal of “BTS Radio: Past & Present,” according to RM, is to commemorate nine years of BTS, with each episode dedicated to ARMYs throughout the world. The trio reveals songs with which they have a deep personal connection in the first episode of the series. The episode just aired live, but here’s a summary of the songs the members chose in case you missed it. The first set of songs was chosen by RM. The leader explained that “No More Dream” was their debut song and that it perfectly reflects BTS.

It evokes BTS’s feelings in their teens and early twenties. Jin, who introduced himself as “Worldwide Handsome,” chose “NO” and “Danger,” two of the group’s early hits. In the song “Danger,” BTS sings to a lover who leaves them unsure whether or not their feelings are reciprocated. The song “NO” by BTS chastised adults and society for turning children into “study robots.” Suga chose “Intro: The Most Beautiful Moment in Life,” a song that brings back many memories for him. Suga writes about a little child playing basketball, and while he looks to be having a good time on the court, the lyrics reveal the darker thoughts that run through his head while he goes through the motions of dribbling and shooting the ball.

From their album 2 COOL 4 SKOOL, J-Hope chose “We Are Bulletproof, Pt. 2.” The song chronicles the group’s efforts to realize their dream of making their debut. Members spent many hours practicing and striving toward becoming BTS while their classmates studied and partied. From their special album, The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever, Jimin chose “Epilogue: Young Forever.” This song has a special meaning for him since it reminds him of BTS’s relationship with its fans. “This song meant a lot to me because it helped me get through a difficult moment while I was listening to it a lot.”

The members sing about the moment the curtain falls and their show is finished, or when the stadium empties and the cheers are replaced by stillness in the song. “Save Me,” a song from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever, was chosen by V. He kept the rationale to “it’s my favorite song,” which was hilarious. It was also a song that meant a lot to J-Hope, he said. BTS speaks about how powerful love can be in lifting another person out of their “darkness” in “Save Me.” The maknae of the group chose “I Need U” because it is meaningful to the members in numerous ways. The song was released in 2015, two years after the band’s debut. The song is about the difficulties of loving someone you know is bad for you.
