India have once again finished on top of the podium in men’s cricket at the Asian Games. Led by captain Shreyas Iyer, the Indian side produced a strong all-round performance to beat arch-rivals Pakistan by 19 runs and successfully defend their Asian Games gold medal.

After winning the toss, India elected to bat first and posted an imposing *211/6 in 20 overs. The innings got off to a flying start, with Abhishek Sharma smashing **61 runs from just 28 balls*, including three fours and seven sixes. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also contributed 15 off nine deliveries.

Pakistan fought back in the middle overs, but India finished strongly. *Tilak Varma remained unbeaten on 51 off 22 balls*, while Shivam Dube added a quick 27 from 15 deliveries. The pair shared a crucial 62-run partnership for the sixth wicket, helping India add 69 runs during the final four overs.

Chasing 212 for gold, Pakistan made a determined start and kept the contest alive. Hasan Nawaz provided the major push with an aggressive half-century as Pakistan looked capable of mounting a late comeback. However, India’s bowling attack held its nerve during the closing stages. Jasprit Bumrah’s penultimate over proved particularly important in restricting Pakistan’s charge.

Pakistan eventually finished on *192/6 in their 20 overs, falling 19 runs short of India’s total. The victory gave India their **second consecutive Asian Games men’s cricket gold medal*, following their title at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

The final also marked the first time India and Pakistan met in the men’s cricket final at the Asian Games. India had entered the summit clash as defending champions after defeating Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the semi-final, while Pakistan reached the final after overcoming Bangladesh in a rain-shortened semi-final.

The result adds another memorable chapter to the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry, with India emerging victorious in a high-scoring gold-medal contest in Nisshin.
