The Calcutta High Court has ordered Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami to pay his estranged wife Hasin Jahan an interim maintenance amount of ₹4 lakh each month. The order which was issued on July 1 2025 states that Hasin Jahan will receive ₹1.5 lakh for her personal expenses while the couple’s minor daughter Aaira will receive ₹2.5 lakh for her expenses and upkeep.

Shami and Jahan have been engaged in their major legal battle since 2018 and the court has ordered Shami to pay his outstanding maintenance payments which total between ₹3.4 crore and ₹3.5 crore. The case has dragged on for a lengthy period because these arrears date back to the case’s inception.

Hasin Jahan has approached the Supreme Court of India seeking an increase in her monthly maintenance payment from the current amount to ₹10 lakh, which will be divided into ₹7 lakh for herself and ₹3 lakh for her daughter.

The judges at the November 2025 hearing raised doubts about the need for such a large increase because they noted that ₹4 lakh already represented a huge amount. The public remains interested in the case because the Supreme Court issued a notice to Shami in February 2026 after Jahan requested to move the case from Kolkata to Delhi for her convenience. The legal conflict shows how public figures manage difficult situations which emerge during their highly visible divorce cases.
