Rohit Sharma is likely to play his final match in the third ODI against England at Lord’s on Sunday. According to reports, the cricketer may retire from International cricket, although no official announcement has been made by the cricketer or the BCCI yet.

The reports suggest that Rohit hasn’t been performing well, as in his second ODI, he managed to make 26 off 47 balls, making a disappointing start for the three-match England series.

And the reports claim that the chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, does not see Rohit in the line-up for the 2027 ODI World Cup. A senior BCCI source on the matter told PTI that national selectors are keen to bring Yashavi Jaiswal on board, as he scored two hundreds in just three innings, and he needs to be given the 20 games for a good experience before the 2027 ODI World Cup. However, no one can suggest Rohit return; he is definitely going for the home series against West Indies in September, and only Rohit can decide his future.

At the same time, Gautam Gambhir and Agarkar are on one side, with Virat Kohli automatically selected due to his fitness and form, but there is no clarity on Rohit’s future.

And so these are just reports that Rohit is retiring, considering that the cricketer will turn 41 by 2027, and he may find it difficult to fit into the physical demands of batting. However, the cricketer continues to focus on his fitness in a bid to extend his career further.
