Cricket Australia has agreed to take a firm stand against the Taliban’s anti-sports women’s position. CA has threatened to boycott the scheduled Test match against Afghanistan’s men’s team in Hobart, citing claims that the Taliban are bringing an end to women’s sporting events in Afghanistan.

Since the Taliban assumed control of the country, Afghanistan has been in a state of political chaos. The Taliban have made a number of modifications to the country’s functioning through enforcing their regulations. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) was planning to develop its first women’s national team, but such preparations have been put on hold due to the Taliban’s attitude toward women in sports.

The men’s team from Australia and Afghanistan were supposed to play in their first Test match on November 27 at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena, but it appears like the event will not take place. Cricket Australia is justifiably outraged by the Taliban regime’s decision regarding women’s sports.

Taliban officials in Kabul, who just created a caretaker government, have pledged their support for the country’s men’s cricket team on their upcoming visit to Australia for the historical Test match as well as the T20 World Cup. At the same time, they are said to have taken away Afghan women’s freedom to participate in sporting activities.
