Sachin Tendulkar, full name Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, is an Indian professional cricket player who was born on April 24, 1973, in Bombay [Mumbai], India. He is widely considered one of the best batsmen of all time. In 2012, he became the first player in international cricket history to score 100 hundred (100 runs in a single inning).
When Tendulkar was 11 years old, he received his first bat. He utilized it to score 329 out of 664 in a school match when he was 14 years old. He hit a century on his first-class debut for Bombay (Mumbai) a year later, and at the age of 16 years 205 days, he made his Test (international) debut against Pakistan in Karachi in November 1989, becoming India’s youngest Test (international) cricketer.
Despite India’s elimination in the 1996 World Cup quarterfinals, Tendulkar was the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 523 runs. For his remarkable performance in the 1997–98 season, he was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Accolade, the highest award given to an Indian athlete.
In the 1999 World Cup, India was defeated by Australia in the round of six, and later that year, India was comprehensively thrashed by both Australia and South Africa in a series. Tendulkar, on the other hand, helped his team reach the finals of the 2003 World Cup. Despite India’s defeat against Australia, Tendulkar was voted the tournament’s man of the match, averaging 60.2.
