The Delhi Capitals (DC) are one of three active clubs that have failed to win the IPL championship. They are the only team that did not make it to the final four. With superstars like Virender Sehwag, AB de Villiers, Tillakaratne Dilshan, David Warner, and Yuvraj Singh having all played for the Delhi Capitals at some point, the franchise should have won the IPL championship several times by now.

As a result, it’s a well-known fact that cricket is a team sport in which all 11 players must cooperate in order to win. For the first time in seven years, DC reached the tournament’s playoffs in 2019.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer took over as captain after Gautam Gambhir stood down after failing to impress with the bat in the first few games of the IPL 2018. The pressure was put on Iyer early on, not only because he had to fill the enormous shoes of IPL’s third most successful captain Gambhir, but also because he had to lead a side that included Glenn Maxwell, Trent Boult, and Amit Mishra, all of whom were seniors to him.

Virender Sehwag

For a variety of compelling reasons, Virender Sehwag was an unexpected choice. Sehwag was the Delhi Capitals’ ‘Icon’ player in the first season earlier; they were called Delhi Daredevils. He stayed with the team until 2013. The Arun Jaitley Stadium is the right-hand batsman’s home ground, where he has 2,382 runs at a strike rate of 158.37 in his DC career.

David Warner

David Warner, another pocket-sized dynamo, will be teamed with Virender Sehwag. The Australian hitter and his partner’s left-handed right-hand batting combination will help and disrupt the opposition spinners. Unlike Sehwag, who prefers to merely watch and strike the ball, Warner can shift gears depending on the situation. Warner is one of only seven batters to hit 1,000 home runs in the history of the Washington Nationals.

Kevin Pietersen

We can all agree that Kevin Pietersen is one of the game’s most graceful yet deadly batsmen. It takes a particular kind of guy to approach a fast bowler and hit him in the head. Kevin Pietersen was a pioneer in the sport of cricket. The originator of the switch-hit shot is also a fantastic fielder with a keen cricketing mentality. He had a 37.33 average in DC.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant threw himself into the IPL 2019 with everything he had. He was DC’s second-highest run-scorer in 2019. His strong performance earned him a position on India’s 2019 World Cup roster. The batter was chosen solely on the basis of his batting abilities. With no wicket-keeping responsibilities to worry about, the young batsman can focus exclusively on helping his side win.
