The journey for cricket in the year 2020 for Women’s Cricket team of India began with a Tri-nation T20 series between Australia, England and India. Although India lost the finals against Aussies, it allowed them to be ready for the ICC Women’s World T20 World Cup which started in mid-February. India started well with winning the warm-up match against West Indies and their first official match against Australia.

India went on ahead to win against Bangladesh and New Zealand in the championship. In the finals, India faced Australia once again. The wounds of losing in the Tri-nation series weren’t healed yet and India lost to Australia in the finals of the T20 world cup as well. This showed that Indian women’s team is not yet at their full strength and needs to work harder and come up with a solid plan against Australia when they face them again. To add some fun, Indian Women’s team got to practice and show their talents in the JIO Women’s T20 Challenge.

Over the recent few years, Women’s Cricket in India has developed a lot. Today many Parents in India are starting to be open-minded and allowing their girls to play more and more cricket. With inspiring women like Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, women’s cricket is sure to keep on developing in the next few years and bring us more memorable and joyful moments in those years.
