Cheteshwar Pujara on Monday became the 11th Indian to have joined the list of cricketers to score 6000 runs in a Test series on Day five of the third Test against Australia. In the 76th over of India’s second innings, Pujara hit a boundary off the Australian bowler, Nathan Lyon, and completed his 6000 runs and also his half-century portraying his skills. The list also includes India’s great cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar with 15921 runs, Sunil Gavaskar with 10122 runs, Rahul Dravid with 13265, Virat Kohli with 7318 runs, and a few others. The International Cricket Council (ICC) took to their Twitter handle to congratulate him and also acknowledged what a fine player he is. This is regarded as the second-highest score by an Indian in the 4th innings of a test match. This was also the fifth time we saw Pujara scoring fifties in both innings of a test match. 

Pujara was bowled by Josh Hazlewood after scoring 77 off 205 balls. Cheteshwar Pujara is an international Indian cricketer who plays only test matches for the national team and in domestic cricket he represents Saurashtra. Cheteshwar Pujara played his first test series in 2010. Cheteshwar Pujara is the sixth Indian cricketer to have scored a century in a tour outside Asia on the first day itself. The India vs Australia 4-match Test series will end on January 19, 2021, which is also known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. This trophy is awarded to the winner of the test series and if the series is drawn then the country who previously won, will retain it. It will be interesting to see who finally takes this beautiful trophy at the end of this series.
