Indian Premier League (IPL), the Twenty20 Indian cricket league is not just a tournament but is something bigger than that. Since its inaugural season in 2008, IPL has become one of the highest favorite leagues for the Indian cricket fans. In fact, it is one of the most engaging cricket leagues in the world. IPL is not just a league. It is an emotion and a festival of cricket for every Indian cricket fan. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has provided many young cricketers and talents with fair opportunities by launching it. IPL is held every year during the summers in India, but this year it has left all the Indian cricket lovers disheartened. The COVID-19 pandemic has left the world go under lockdown, and India since March. Thus, BCCI also took the decision to postpone IPL 2020 until the situation gets better.
No one is aware when it is supposing to happen. The world is resuming with the tournaments with a closed-door system, while IPL is yet to decide. People are hoping the tournament to take place, but even if IPL 2020 happens, it won’t be the same again. Everything was ready, including the declaration of the match schedule but who knew that the pandemic will lead to this? The IPL fans and supporters have showcased their grief and sadness through several platforms. There are a lot of reasons to miss IPL 2020. We have got some of them listed here:
1: Missing our favorite team and players is quite obvious for many. We all have got our favorite teams and players whom we loved to see on the field but couldn’t see this year.
2: The enthusiastic stadium and the crowd. The stadiums were always packed with the fans cheering for their teams and motivating the players. The atmosphere was missed by many.
3: IPL 2020 was the last year where fans who had been able to see their favorite players in their team, as next year, i.e., in IPL 2021 mega auctions are supposed to be held. In the mega auction, all the players will be released except 3, thus this was the last chance for the fans to see their dream team for the last time.
