Do you keep a close eye on every new smartphone launch? In 2022, you’ll have a lot on your plate: from budget blowers to new flagships to foldable phones, there’s no shortage of new phones on the horizon.

While the silicon shortage isn’t completely resolved, mobile manufacturers appear to have a grip on the situation. This is good news for smartphone fans: 2022 is shaping up to be a banner year for new devices, with manufacturing plans looking less shaky.

Do you want to know what’s coming up next? We’ve compiled a list of confirmed releases, likely launches, and rumored unveilings so you’ll know precisely which smartphones to anticipate in 2022.

1. Nothing Phone 1

Over the last year, there’s been a lot of talk about Nothing. Nothing, the brainchild of OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, has already made waves with its Ear 1 wireless earphones. The digital start-up has now confirmed that it will release a long-rumored smartphone.

2. Google Pixel 6a

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones were released in October 2021, with top-of-the-line internals, redesigned designs, and upgraded camera technology, signaling the Pixel family’s return to flagship status.

A mid-range variant, along with the previous three Pixel generations, is expected to debut in 2022. According to leaks, the Pixel 6a will come with Google’s Tensor processor and a design similar to its higher-end siblings, including the signature back camera bar.

3. Huawei P60 Pro

The Huawei P50 Pro was an unusual phone when it was released last year. It was a photographic powerhouse, with a quartet of powerful cameras boasting lots of megapixels — including a periscope lens with a fantastic 200x digital zoom. The problem was that because of existing trade restrictions, the flagship took a long time to leave China.

4. Google Pixel 7

After a mid-tier detour with its predecessor, Google’s Pixel 6 saw the company return to manufacturing true flagships. We don’t know much about its successor, but the Pixel 7 is expected to follow in its footsteps. That implies it should have top-tier smartphone features while still undercutting Apple and Samsung competitors by a significant margin.
