What prompted you to take up this show?

Well, I was very impressed with the storyline and the genre happens to be my favourite one (thriller). I am also playing the female lead in a very different light in this show and it’s a great team to work with. All of these factors were crucial in my decision-making.

What preparation you did for the role?

I was given the character sketch and an idea of how the makers wanted me to portray this part, so I based my backstory of this character on these factors. We had a few extensive reading sessions with the entire main cast as well. The rest, I, as an actor, like my performance to be organic as per the situation on the set.

Is there any similarity between your character and you? Any challenges you faced while playing the part?

I think for me the similarity between Gayatri Chittoda, the character, and Dipannita Sharma the person is the fact that both are supportive towards their loved ones, and also have strong opinions. She likes a balanced life just like me. The biggest difference probably is that she is the mother of a 17-year-old in this series that for me has been a challenge to enact but a very happy experience, for what is a role without challenges.

How is your experience working with your co-stars?

It’s been wonderful, Bhanu Uday is such a prolific and nuanced actor. I learn so much from him every time I watch him give a shot. How well he does his homework. He’s absolutely amazing! Rudraaksh Jaiswal, who plays my son is brilliant, he is such a natural actor. We met during our reading sessions, so it was easy for us to bond on sets as actors, as it was necessary for our parts to come out right.

Finally, message to your fans…

I thank my audience for their love and support always. Would like to say that once again I have stepped into the shoes of a part which is different and I hope I get the same appreciation and love from them for Rudrakaal that I have got before.
