Actor Jaya Binju Tyagi is back after her memorable ‘Krishnadasi’ stint on TV!! She’s recently joined the family of Zee TV’s Piyaa Albela (Rajshri Productions) to play a crucial character.
Jaya will essay the role of a s*x worker, Chandrika (Chand Bai) who is the biological mother of Naren (Akshay Mhatre).
Says Jaya, “I have always wanted to be part of the Rajshri family. And when I got this offer, I accepted it with both hands. Another interesting aspect about this character is that this is an extension of my role in Krishnadasi. So I feel I will do complete justice to the role.”
The story ahead in Piyaa Albela will show an emotional story of a mother who had left her new born in an ashram, to never look back. “The lady has strongly held herself back for so many years. But now, she is brought to a point where she has to come before her son. Pooja (Sheen Das) will forcibly bring her to the family, and that is where the character will open up. It will surely be an emotional journey,” explains Jaya.
Jaya who has done challenging roles in shows Ghar Ek Sapna, Phir Subah Hogi to name a few, feels that there is a dearth of good roles on TV right now. “I am an actor, and would love to be seen in a new frame every time. However, I have not been pleased with what had been on offer for me. I want to play strong characters, but feel there are not much of them on TV right now. Shows on similar lines are being made and this does not provide variety.”
Jaya does see the digital platform as a good medium to work on. “Though I am not comfortable doing the bold roles, there is lot more scope in offer on the web. There are shows that are made differently on the digital platform.”
