Actress Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni, who essays the role of Aradhya in Star Plus and Studio LSD’s show Oh Humnava – Tum Dena Saath Mera, has opened up about her character’s controversial choices, particularly her growing closeness to Vivaan. While many viewers believe Aradhya is driven by wealth and status, Aishwarya says there is much more to her journey than materialistic ambitions.
Speaking about Aradhya’s motivations, Aishwarya explained that her character’s choices are deeply rooted in her difficult upbringing rather than greed. “I think it’s much more than just money. For Aradhya, wealth represents security, dignity and a future she has never experienced. She comes from a very humble background where she’s constantly seen her family struggle and compromise. Vivaan’s financial stability definitely catches her attention, but what truly impacts her is that he respects her, encourages her dreams and stands by her in situations where Rohan never did. So, for her, it’s not just about money—it’s about finally feeling valued and secure.”
The actress also described Aradhya as a layered and morally grey character, someone whose decisions stem from years of hardship and emotional wounds. “I think Aradhya is both practical and emotionally impulsive. She’s a young girl who’s trying to escape a life of constant humiliation, uncertainty and poverty. She does make choices that people may not always agree with, and that’s what makes her a grey character. But I hope the audience also understands where those choices are coming from. From Aradhya’s perspective, she’s finally seeing an opportunity for a better life. Growing up, she watched her sister Aparajita constantly sacrifice herself and suffer because she always put everyone else before herself. Aradhya has learned from that. She doesn’t want to repeat the same cycle. She wants to make herself a priority—not because she’s selfish, but because she doesn’t want to spend her entire life compromising. She’s not perfect, she makes mistakes, but at her core she’s searching for dignity, security and a life where she feels respected.”
Addressing whether Aradhya believes financial stability is enough to sustain a relationship, Aishwarya clarified that her character still values love, but not at the cost of self-respect. “I don’t think Aradhya believes money alone can create love. If that were true, she would never have fallen in love with Rohan in the first place. But after everything she’s experienced, she’s started believing that love without respect, support and emotional security isn’t enough. Vivaan doesn’t just offer her financial stability; he makes her feel seen, appreciated and encouraged. I think that’s what she’s drawn towards.”
With Aradhya and Vivaan’s bond becoming one of the most talked-about tracks in the show, Aishwarya also shared her experience of working alongside co-star Gaurav Wadhwa. “It’s been wonderful working with Gaurav. He’s a very spontaneous and supportive co-actor, which makes intense scenes much easier to perform. We’ve developed a great comfort level on set, and that allows us to explore the emotional layers of our scenes naturally. I think that comfort reflects in Aradhya and Vivaan’s chemistry on screen.”
She added that their off-screen rapport has played a significant role in making their on-screen relationship believable. ”We share a very comfortable and professional equation off-screen. We often discuss our scenes, understand each other’s perspectives and make sure we’re emotionally in sync before we perform. That mutual trust really helps us create honest and believable moments on screen, and I hope the audience can feel that in Aradhya and Vivaan’s journey.”
