Rishina Kandhari talks about web series, TV show and more..

I can romance even an inanimate object – Rishina Kandhari

The hot Rishina Kandhari is enjoying her on-going Crime Patrol stint. This popular Sony crime show has recently changed its format with Anoop Soni quitting. Now we have a few fixed actors, who, besides essaying the roles of the case-solving cops, also host the show.

“It is fun getting the no-nonsense cop persona. Normally, we have male cops as the main guys; here, the same work is done by a female in Khaki. It feels nice when my body language and throw of voice is appreciated by industry biggies,” says Rishina to IWMBuzz.com.

“Anchoring is fun, for you get to talk and know a lot about what is happening out in the real world. Having said that, our format is such that we narrate the story and not just anchor. Plus, since we are also part of the action, it becomes a two-way street, i.e. cop and bad guy, rather than a three-way affair, when we had a standalone anchor. Last but not the least, we mostly shoot in beautiful outdoor locales, which is a big relief for us TV actors who are normally cooped up in huge indoor sets for months on end.”

Rishina, who is known for her bold social mediapics, is quite comfortable in the dare bare avatar, for, “that is my personality. But as actors, we need to do all kind of characters. If you consider my simple school-teacher role in YehUnDinon Ki Baat Hai, there was no oomph factor at all. I have also done mythos (Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev) and fantasy (Prithvi Vallabh), besides bread and butter socials (Uttaran and Na Aana Is Des Laado). Interestingly, I had also played in a cop in Diya Aur Baati Hum.”

She has no issues with doing bold roles in web series, “If they are within limits and shot aesthetically, like my love-making scene in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, where director, Tigmanshu Dhulia sir made me so comfortable.”

You don’t feel awkward doing such scenes? “I am not in favour of Sacred Games level nudity, for I don’t think desi audiences are ready for that. It is ok watching the same in international shows but not here. When we are ready for it, I will take a call then.”

“When it comes to bold elements within my comfort level, the selfish actor in me is not really concerned about who is in front of me. I can even romance an inanimate object. My job is to get the emotion that the director wants.”

Ask her what went wrong with her last &TV show, Mitegi Lakshmanrekha, which shut shop in a matter of 2/3 months, and she says, “I was devastated, for we had a great concept of women fighting back all odds. I really loved my character– a woman forced by society to continue in an abusive marriage.”

All the best Rishina.
