Dance is a means to express emotions—joy, sadness, or frustration. It is a profound, expressive art which combines physical movement with deep emotions. Dance builds self-confidence and gives a sense of liberation. Some people have specified that dance enables the automatic release of stress. Being a dancer herself, actress Mohak Matkar has experienced the depth and strength of dancing.
Mohak Matkar, who plays the titular role of Saru in Zee TV’s Saru, added dance in her daily lifestyle quite early in age. She says, “I am a trained classical dancer in Kathak, and this is something most people know about me. I have been learning classical dance from a very young age, and it has shaped me both as a person and as a performer.”
For an actor, dance bridges the gap between internal emotion and external expression, allowing performers to tell stories through movement when words aren’t enough. Mohak connects with this thought and tells us, “As an actor, I feel dance adds a unique depth to my performance; it allows me to break barriers and communicate emotions that go beyond scripted dialogues.”
Zee TV’s Saru, produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions, has Mohak Matkar in the titular role, with Shagun Pandey playing the male lead. Saru narrates the story of a village girl who is ambitious and wants to grow in life to achieve her goals. Though she comes to Mumbai to fulfil her dreams, Anika becomes a roadblock in her path, and on her journey, she meets Ved, her love interest, making the story of dreams and ambitions even more interesting.
