For actress Pranitaa Pandit, Diwali has always been a festival that goes far beyond lights and decorations — it’s a celebration of warmth, renewal, and gratitude. “For me,” she says with a radiant smile, “Diwali symbolises new beginnings and togetherness. It’s that time of the year when the energy shifts — everything feels brighter, calmer, and full of hope.”
Over the years, her way of celebrating has become more intimate and heart-centred. “I have always loved a cosy, family-oriented Diwali — and now, with my husband Shivi and our daughter Anysha, it feels even more special,” she shares. “Watching Anysha’s excitement as we decorate the house or light diyas together fills me with pure joy. Through her eyes, I get to relive the magic I once felt as a child.”
For Pranitaa, the deeper meaning of Diwali — light overcoming darkness — has resonated strongly at various moments in her life. “There were times when things felt uncertain, when I had to dig deep to find my own strength,” she reflects. “And in those moments, I truly understood that the light we talk about during Diwali isn’t just around us — it’s within us. You just have to keep it alive.”
As a family, the Pandits also make it a point to celebrate responsibly and consciously. “We have made it a tradition to avoid loud firecrackers,” she explains. “We light diyas, make homemade sweets, and teach Anysha that Diwali is about spreading happiness — not noise or pollution. The real sparkle comes from love and laughter.”
This year, Pranitaa finds herself feeling especially thankful. “I am grateful for stability, family, and love — for Shivi, who’s my biggest support, and for our little one, who fills every day with laughter. Diwali gives me that moment to pause and say a heartfelt thank you to life.”
When she looks back, childhood memories of the festival still make her smile. “I remember running around with my cousins, helping my mom make rangolis, and waiting to wear new clothes,” she laughs. “Now, when I see Anysha doing the same things, I feel that beautiful sense of continuity — like Diwali has come full circle in my life.”
As diyas flicker softly around her home, Pranitaa sums up her Diwali philosophy in one gentle thought — “No matter how dark the world feels, light always finds its way in — especially when it begins at home, with love.”
