Father’s Day holds a lot of significance for actress Dipshikkha Nagppal. The actress, who has been part of films such as Koyla, Baadshah , Dillagi and Partner and show such as Son Pari Santoshi Maa, Phir Laut Aayi Naagin and the current Ishq Jabariya, says that while Mother’s Day is a common favourite, Father’s Day should also get its due.
“Father’s Day is very important and very special for me. Of course, all days are nice, but this one stands out because I was a daddy’s girl. I always wanted to be in my daddy’s good books. We lost him at a very young age so Father’s Day means a lot to me. Women’s Day gets a lot of attention, which is great and mothers do play a major role but fathers also have a beautiful and irreplaceable presence. They may not always be expressive, but you canot forget it is both father and mother who create a child. So all credit goes to both,” she says.
Sharing her memories about her father, the actress says, “I have so many memories because I spent a lot of time with him. My mom was working. She was a politician and an actress, so she was mostly in Gujarat. My dad handled everything in Bombay, and he looked after us here. I remember how he used to wake me up in the morning, calling me Deepa Rani. He loved cooking, and he would arrange everything—spot boy, makeup, everything so silently in the background. My dad was excellent at management. Even in my childhood, he put a lot of values into me—being organized, respectful, and grounded. He pampered me a lot. but made me a strong woman today. My mom would often say he spoiled me! If I am a bit tomboyish today, it is because of him. He always treated us equally, like boys, encouraging independence.”
Sharing her biggest learning from her dad, she says, “The most important thing I learned from him is the value of time. He would always say, ‘Beta, time is everything.’ This habit is in me now, and even in my children. Being punctual, valuing others’ time, being honest, speaking the truth—these are values I follow strictly today, all thanks to him.”
She adds, “I think he would be proud that I have carried forward his name with dignity. I have done everything on my own—without any godfather or support—just with dedication and honesty. He would be proud of how I handle things, both professionally and personally. He always wanted me to stand strong and true to myself, and I have done just that.”
