Rohit Khurana talks about his new role of Shani in Karamphal Data Shani.

Rohit Khurana is quite excited about playing Lord Shani in the popular Colors mythological show Karmaphal Data Shani (Swastik Productions). “I feel blessed that the God of justice has himself ensured that I get this role. Agreed many get scared, but we need to appreciate the fact that he only gives what we have earned as a result of our past karmas. Also if we have behaved well during the saade saati (7 years bad luck phase), he also ensures that the down phase is made less cumbersome.”

Since this is Rohit’s first tryst with the mytho genre, we ask about the biggest challenge of being part of the genre. “I guess it is to get the language right; we are not used to ornamental Hindi. Normally we mouth spoken Hindi, English and in my case Punjabi as well. Since we have a very co-operative creative team, they help me a lot in my approach. I am learning and am sure will only get better as time passes.”

Rohit who has been around for a while doing shows like Miley Jab Hum Tum, Uttaran, Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat and Chatur aur Chalak, Birbal aur Vira says “ Sometimes in our industry due to output pressure, quality does dip. But I must point out that that this does not happen in Shani where we make sure that we always up our game. The show looks grand; our performances have come out well.”

Talking about his career Rohit says, “I have grown with every outing. I am lucky to have got to play all kinds of roles be it positive, negative, grey, boy next door and now mytho. I also attribute my success to hard work. I want to keep working hard and impress my audiences. ”

Among all his shows, Rohit regards his Uttaran stint as closest. “It taught me a lot and also played an important role in getting me subsequent work. I also was very raw when I was doing Uttaran; full credit to my director and creative team for honing my skills. The above show also made me a house hold name.”

Looking ahead, he would also be game for dance shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.  “I think I can do a good job having a rhythmic body.”

All the best for your portrayal of Shani, Rohit!!
