Sumeet Sachdev and Ashlesha Savant have, in the past, captured the hearts of television audiences as the popular on-screen couple, Gautam (Gomzi) and Teesha, from the classic Balaji Telefilms show on Star Plus, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Their poignant love story resonated deeply with viewers, creating a lasting attachment with the characters. Fast forward to today, these talented actors are redefining their presence in the entertainment world with fresh and dynamic portrayals in Star Plus’ popular show Jhanak, which has recently seen a generation leap happening. As we know, Sumeet and Ashlesha play the roles of Aniruddh and Arshi now, in Jhanak. Produced by Magic Moments Motion Pictures, the show has seen entries of Arijit Taneja, Riya Sharma and Twinkle Arora as the leads. This time, the chemistry between Sumeet and Ashlesha is different, as Aniruddh and Arshi have never been on the same page.
But Jhanak has provided the platform for good friends to share screens yet again after 22 years.
Talking about the great bond of friendship that is present even today between them, Ashlesha says, “Sumeet is a dear and close friend. We have been in constant touch over the years. He is my neighbour in the same complex. So now, I don’t see him only as a co-actor.”
Recollecting their beginnings, Sumeet states, “Yes, it is great to be working with Ashlesha again. 22 years back, when we shared the screen for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, we were very new to the industry. We never knew each other before. Being young, we focused more on work and on performing well. But now, there is a vast difference. We know each other very well. I have been in touch with only two actors from Kyunki Saas, and one of them is Ashlesha. So yes, we get back together with an experience of so many years behind us.”
Talking about the stark difference in characters now in Jhanak, Sumeet says, “Gautam and Teesha were madly in love. However, we cannot say that with Aniruddh and Arshi. The chemistry between these two characters is so different. So yes, this will be a new experience for us as actors.”
Ashlesha too adds more to the change in chemistry with Jhanak saying, “There is no love between Aniruddh and Arshi. They are at loggerheads with each other. This is such a stark contrast to Kyunki Saas. This more than explains the power of the roles we portray as actors.”
Aren’t you excited to see them onscreen again, albeit in new avatars and chemistry?
