Talented actor Nishant Malkani who engaged audiences with his portrayal in ALTBalaji’s web-series, Ragini MMS Returns, has made a smashing comeback to TV with a very different role and show in Guddan… Tumse Na Ho Payega on Zee TV (Shoonya Square).
Playing the role of the sophisticated character of Akshat Jindal (AJ), Nishant has won the hearts of one and all in the initial weeks of the show’s launch.
Says Nishant, “The USP of the show is very new. Never have we seen a ‘Saas’ who is younger than the ‘bahus’. Also, the team on the whole is full of positive people, very supportive towards each other. We have the perfect casting and every actor seems to be tailor-made for the role. Above all, the Writer and Producer Ved Raj has given us a great story to work on.”
Ask him what prompted him to play a role older than his real age and he says, “I am fortunate that this role came to me. Earlier the guy was to be shown as a 45 years old guy. However, they changed it later. Also, we have shown a mystery element on the guy not even being the sasur of the bahus. So that element of intrigue remains. Above all, AJ is is an extremely loveable character. The character is extremely demanding as he is very complicated, hard and strict. It is a difficult task to play such a character and make him lovable at the same time. This is a brilliant show for me to have made a comeback on TV. I had left many shows before I accepted this one.”
On the fabulous chemistry that Kanika Mann and Nishant share on screen, he states, “We share a very good chemistry. It comes naturally to us. Actually, when I did my first mock test, it was with another girl. After the mock, I got selected, but the girl was not. Post that I did mock shoots with 10 different girls, the last one being Kanika. When I shot with her, I immediately told our creative and person from channel that she is apt for the role. Finally, she was the one to get selected. Again, I would say it was a perfect casting.”
On the appreciation got, he states, “It’s just been one and half months for the role and show. But AJ as a character has gotten so famous. People recognize me as AJ in public places and come up to me. I have received fan mails where people have said they look for more scenes of AJ as he is quite dominating and does unbelievable stuff.”
On the good hold they have on the ratings, Nishant quips, “Guddan is pitched opposite Kasautii Zindagii Kay and we have a real test before us. Knowing Ekta M’am, she has the knack of engaging audiences. But we believed in our content. We are happy that we are doing well. Of course, tables can turn, but with all humility, we are doing our work.”
Finally, on the track to expect post marriage of AJ and Guddan, he states, “There will be lot of explosive situations now that they will be living under the same roof. It will get very complicated for them as both of them did not want the marriage to happen. The sequences will light-hearted as well as dramatic.”
