As the vibrant festival of Gudi Padwa unfolds, it ushers in the delightful warmth of spring and carries with it the promise of new beginnings. This celebration of the Marathi New Year is marked by the time-honoured tradition of hoisting the Gudi, a symbolic banner adorned with colourful embellishments, which signifies a heartfelt wish for joy, prosperity, and a fresh start in the year to come. The atmosphere during Gudi Padwa is alive with a joyous spirit, encompassing a rich tapestry of family connections, spiritual rejuvenation, and exuberant community festivities. Families come together, sharing laughter and love, as homes are adorned with beautiful rangoli designs and fragrant flowers. On this joyous occasion, where the air is filled with the positive energy of music, lights, and rangolis, creating a carnival-like ambience, we at IWMBuz.com spoke with actor Hemant Thatte, who plays Vivek Jaiswal in Zee TV‘s popular show Lakshmi Niwas. He discussed the significance of the festival and the tradition observed.
Talking about Vivek’s character in the show, Vivek is the eldest son born to Srinivas and Lakshmi. He is married and follows a strict vigil on the outflow of money and wants to save every penny possible for future use.
On the occasion of Gudi Padwa, Hemant Thatte said, “Gudi Padwa beautifully reflects the richness of Maharashtrian culture. What I love most about the festival is how it celebrates both tradition and optimism.”
Speaking about its significance, he said, “The rituals remind us of our roots, while the spirit of the day encourages us to welcome the future with confidence. For me, it’s always a time to reconnect with family, traditions, and the values we often get too busy to acknowledge.”
Here’s wishing all the brightness and positivity on the auspicious day!!
