How different is this role from your earlier show for Dangal, Deewani?
Of course, this role in Sanam Mere Humraz is totally different from the role in Deewani. Deewani was a romantic show, while Sanam Mere Humraz is a romantic thriller. The thrill element in this show, based on the split personality, is high. The love story is surely present. Vidhaan loves Vidhi, but the split personality stops him from getting close to his wife.
Why did you choose to do such a complex role like Vidhan?
I like the challenges offered to me in the roles I play. The more the difficulty, the more I enjoy. There has never been a show on Hindi TV where a guy is troubled by the split personality of a possessive woman. This is surely a differentiator in terms of concept on TV.
What have been your preparations like to play this character affected by split personality disorder?
I watched a lot of movies. I observed the detailing of girls, their mannerisms, their walk and talk, etc. I am briefed very well by my team. I learn every day, and this helps me play my role with great conviction.
What are the challenges that you face in this role, which is more or less like a dual role?
I have a side of the character which is very cute and lovable, which is not difficult to portray. On the other hand, I need to play a girl’s character, that of a split personality. As said, I am working on the character with every shot. I trust my team when it comes to working on this character. I try my best in the role and hope it is coming across well on screen.
What do you think is the USP of Sanam Mere Humraz?
As I said before, this concept has never been seen on television till now. The split personality of a guy, that of a girl, is its USP. The elements of romance, intrigue and family drama, along with the split personality concept, will connect with the audience well.
What are your expectations from this role?
I will not say that this role is difficult for me. I prefer to say that it is challenging for me. I enjoy doing such roles. I try my best and work on every nuance in the character. I expect that I look convincing in my roles.
