Poorva Gokhale is quite happy with the progress of her character in popular Zee TV show, Tujhse Hai Raabta.
Says Poorva who plays Anupriya in the Full House Media show, “It is very important for your character to grow and not remain stagnant, for example, a TV mother who just weeps. I have no issue playing a mother, but she needs to add to the story. This was one of the reasons why I said yes to this Sonali Jaffar production. Tujhse marks my return to Hindi TV after a hiatus of a decade after Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. Right now, I am also quite busy with my personal life, taking care of two daughters, so I really need a juicy character to leave home for.”
“Anupriya has really grown in confidence, thanks to stepdaughter, Kalyani (Reem Shaikh). The latter has made her complete her education, opening new vistas for her. Hate has turned to love and the transformation has been shown well,” she adds on her character.
How had you approached your earlier unsure avatar, as an actor? “I was really helped along as the makers clearly knew what they wanted. Also, we always have frank conversations, which let me know what needs to be changed.”
Poorva Gokhale credits the success of the show to the honesty of the script and says, “Yes, the mother-daughter equation, which is not replicated anywhere else on TV.”
Ask about the romantic equation between Anupriya and Sarthak (Rajat Dahiya), and she says, “It has been explored from time to time, but it is up to the creative to take it forward. As an actor, I want to play all shades.”
Looking ahead, Poorva would now want to try her hand at web series as well. “It is good that digital is making foray in the Marathi entertainment sector as well.”
However, Poorva would not be open for bold. “It is not that only such type of stuff is being made; there are other genres also, up for grabs.”
