Ishita Dixit has received widespread acclaim for her genuine portrayal of Pari in the popular Star Plus show Anupamaa. Her strong and effortless performance has made her character feel truly relatable to audiences. On the occasion of Janmashtami, Ishita took the opportunity to share her fond childhood memories of celebrating the festival, her deep love for Lord Krishna, and the valuable life lessons she has embraced from his teachings.

Talking about her fondest Janmashtami memories, Ishita said, “I remember when I used to live in Indore; the most special thing was that when we used to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna at night, everyone used to gather. We used to make a temple using a saree and a small fairy light. It was an amazing time. All the cousins and the whole family used to pray together at night. We used to make the prasad ourselves. There was the Anjeer prasad, which was very tasty. Those are my best memories, and I miss that a lot.”

She also shared that her family continues to follow the tradition even today, although she is no longer there to celebrate it with them. “My whole family will still make it, but I’m not there for them. It’s fine. But that was a special and the most traditional thing in my family that I remember a lot,” the actress added.

Ishita’s connection with Lord Krishna goes beyond childhood celebrations. She says she has read the Bhagavad Gita, explored the Mahabharata and continues to find Krishna’s teachings relevant even today.

“I do follow Lord Krishna, and I know the whole Bhagavad Gita. I’ve read everything about the Mahabharata and watched it as well. I love Lord Krishna as well as his teachings. I relate to several teachings of his even today. The wisdom he shared with people back then is still relevant for today’s generation as well,” Ishita said.

She further explained, “Accept everything in this universe and let it happen because no one can avoid it. You should know the way to accept things and how to handle the situation positively. Because when his entire family was dying, he was smiling even then. Even during the Mahabharata fight, when his people were in trouble, he was smiling even then.”

For Ishita, this has become a lesson that she tries to carry into her own life. “So I guess it is a lesson of my life that whatever the situation is, whatever it is, you should always keep a smile on your face and let what is happening happen. You cannot change anything. You just need acceptance. That is a big lesson in my life that I have learned from Lord Krishna and the Bhagavad Gita,” she added.

When asked which side of Krishna connects with her the most, Ishita chose his role as a friend. While she finds his strategist side interesting, she feels some of his decisions during the Mahabharata can be questioned. What stands out to her, however, is his loyalty towards the people close to him.

“I connect most with Krishna, the friend. Honestly, when I look at him from the perspective of the Mahabharata, there are quite a few things about his strategist side that I feel were wrong as well. He loves everyone who loves him, but I really like the way he is as a friend. He is such a wonderful friend that he never left Arjun’s side, and he never left Draupadi’s side either. So, I really like that side of him – the friend,” Ishita concluded.
