Young and talented Aashish Bhardhwaj, who rose to fame with his roles in shows like Kasauti Zindagi Kay and Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na, is currently playing the lead role of Siddharth in Zee TV’s latest show Mithai.

The show is set against the backdrop of Mathura and captures the journey of a bubbly and chirpy sweet-maker, whose name is also coincidentally ‘Mithai’. In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Aashish spoke about his journey, new show Mithai, character development and more.

How excited are you to be a part of Mithai?

I am very excited to be a part of this show. Having said that, I also have a lot of responsibility on my shoulders as I am the lead of Mithai. I have been in the industry for some time now, however, this is my first show as a lead. I do believe it is a big responsibility too. Hence, I am looking forward to the show and waiting for fans’ reactions.

What is the USP of Mithai?

The USP of the show is that it is a family drama that is very light-hearted and cute. People will love this family drama and relate to it. They will connect on a different level. The show is given a different treatment hence the relatability factor is the USP of this drama.

How did you prepare yourself to get into the skin of the character?

I play Siddharth, who cares a lot about his family, just like me in real life. Hence, relating to this character has been very easy for me. I had worked on my mannerism and speech. It is also a process of learning while enacting the role, so I believe there is a lot of preparation left.

Do you find any similarities between you and your character?

Ashish and Siddharth are not poles apart. However, their journeys and thought processes are different. We do have some similarities hence I try to put in my input and try to create something new which enhances my character more.

How is your equation with your co-star Debattama Saha?

My equation with Debattama is really good. She is a very nice girl. She is a sweet, down-to-earth, great friend and a very hard-working co-star. We bond well and I am sure the equation and chemistry will reflect on the screens too. I really enjoy working with her. Along with her, I also have a wonderful bunch of actors on the set who are very supportive and great co-stars.

When you look back at your journey in the industry, how do you feel about it?

I have struggled in the industry. I have always felt there is no term like a struggle, especially for an artist, because it’s more a process of learning and polishing one’s craft. This is the profession I have given my all to, and where I am today, I feel I am swiftly inching closer to what I dreamt of once. It is just the beginning of my career. There is a long way to go. So far the journey is good and I am sure it will become bigger and better.

Any message to your fans and viewers?

I don’t know my fans personally. Still, they take out time and make collages for me. They watch my show and shower their love. This kind of love is unconditional. They are very important to me. I want to just thank them for always supporting and blessing me. I would like to tell them that please support and love us in our new show as well.
