Actor Rishi Saxena has kept audiences engaged with his portrayal of Sanjay Bhosale in Sony SAB‘s loved show, Itti Si Khushi, produced by Rose Audio Visuals. From being a loyal and helpful friend and confidante, Sanjay’s character has changed, with his manipulative streak coming to the fore to win the love of his life.
We at IWMBuzz.com spoke with Rishi about his character’s arc, and he shared his thoughts on his role, changes in his character, etc.
Love changes a personality. This holds true for Sanjay’s arc shift. Speaking about it, Rishi says, “Love has the power to transform people, and Sanjay is no exception. His entire arc reflects how deeply love can influence someone’s behaviour and decisions. He’s in love with Anvita and at war with Virat — so in his mind, everything he’s doing is justified. He believes he is acting in the best possible way given the situation and doing what he must to protect the woman he loves.
Ask him how he likes the manipulative Sanjay, and whether he is justified in his actions, Rishi states, “If you observe closely, every bit of manipulation Sanjay does stems from love. He isn’t evil — he’s human. He’s someone trying his absolute best for the person he cares about the most. His actions may appear questionable, but his intentions are rooted entirely in his love for Anvita.”
On the big phase where he was instrumental in separating Anvita and Virat, Rishi quips, “Yes, Sanjay is responsible for their separation, and that’s exactly what he intended. From his perspective, Virat is a thief and a con man. Sanjay genuinely believes Virat is not the right choice for Anvi. His actions come from a place of wanting to protect her — something he has always done and will continue to do.”
The audience reaction motivates him more. “The audience is shocked by this shift, and understandably so. But when you look at it from Sanjay’s point of view, he’s simply trying to keep Anvita safe from what he perceives as a threat. In his mind, Virat endangers her, and Sanjay is doing what he believes is necessary,” he states.
On the twists ahead, the actor avers, “Viewers can expect a mix of manipulation and love from Sanjay’s character. But no matter how his actions appear on the surface, they stem from a genuine place. Everything he does is driven by his deep love and concern for Anvita.”
