As the joyous festival of Janmashtami fills the air with festive fervour, devotion, and vibrant celebrations, it brings a moment to reflect on the timeless teachings of Lord Krishna. Known for her captivating performance as the brilliant yet quirky surgeon Dr Preeti in Sony SAB’s medical drama Hui Gumm Yaadein, actress Chhavi Pandey opens up about how Krishna’s wisdom guides her journey both on and off the screen. From managing tight shooting schedules to nostalgic childhood memories, Chhavi shares her personal connection with the divine festival.

On applying Lord Krishna’s core teachings to the craft of acting, she says, “I think the biggest lesson for me is to focus on your actions and not constantly worry about the outcome. As actors, we often get caught up overthinking how a scene will be received or whether our performance was enough. I constantly remind myself that my only responsibility is to approach my work with complete honesty and give it my absolute best. Once I’ve put in the heart, I choose to let go and gracefully accept whatever comes next.”

On keeping the festive spirit alive amidst demanding set schedules, Chhavi explains, “Festivals don’t always require a grand, day-long event to feel special. Even when I am on set with back-to-back scenes, I find simple ways to bring the celebration to life around me. Whether it’s dressing in subtle traditional attire, savouring a festive sweet during our short break, or sharing a quick call with my family, those little moments count. Celebrating with the cast and crew turns the set into a home away from home, making a demanding shoot day feel truly memorable.”

On fond childhood memories of celebrating Janmashtami, she quips, “My absolute favourite memory from childhood is heading out with friends to watch the local Dahi Handi human pyramids. Back then, I lacked any patience and would continuously ask everyone around me when the celebrations were going to start. That raw, innocent, childlike excitement and the vibrant energy in the streets are what stay with me the most.”

On the one festive treat that holds a special place in her heart, the actress quips, “Hands down, it has to be Makhana Kheer. I have a massive sweet tooth, but enjoying a warm bowl of it surrounded by loved ones during the festivities is an indulgence I simply cannot resist.”

On seeking Krishna’s ultimate wisdom for navigating the highs and lows of show business, “If I could seek one piece of divine wisdom for my acting career, it would be learning the art of remaining completely unshakeable through both success and failure. In this industry, you experience days where everything lands perfectly, and others where nothing seems to go right. Learning to stay deeply grounded through both spectrums—moving forward without letting praise inflate you or criticism defeat you—is the greatest lesson any artist can strive for.”

Wishing all our readers a bountiful and prosperous Janmashtami!
