Manan Joshi is back on television after his confident display as the lead in Dangal TV’s Mann Atisundar. He now plays the unusually different role of Karan in Colors TV‘s Mangal Lakshmi – Lakshmi Ka Safar. This means he is back to working with Suzana Ghai’s Panorama Entertainment.

Manan has taken up a role that is not the typical good Samaritan. Talking about his role, Manan says, “Karan is a flamboyant guy, very well accomplished, and has a lot of air about himself. He is filled with pride and has a tinge of arrogance that comes out of his confidence.”

On his anti-hero image in the show, Manan points out, “It is not a quintessential good boy character in the show. It does not have the narrative of a good boy. Karan has accomplished so much in life and wants the best out of people, that too in the snap of a finger. He is not a typical hero. But his motives behind his actions appear factual.”

“I wanted to do something different. An anti-hero was a great opportunity that came by. It is the same team that offered me Mann Atisundar. It is great to work with Suzanna Ma’am again. It is a good feeling to walk into a set where you know everyone. It is like stepping into my home,” he went on to say.

Ask him what prompted him to get into an ongoing show, and Manan says, “Actually, it is exciting to get into an already-running show like Lakshmi Ka Safar. Everyone knows their character; I am getting to know it. To hit the ground running it is a great feeling. To know that my character is already finding a great response with the performance being loved is extremely fulfilling.”

On his Diwali plans, Manan avers, “I stay in Mumbai and my family stays with me. I usually travel during Diwali. So I will not travel this Diwali, as I am busy shooting.”

Recalling his childhood memories of Diwali, Manan says, “My memories of Diwali are from my small town in Rajasthan. It was all about the diyas lit around, with mountains seen in the ambience.”

Manan comes from a very health-conscious family, who keep the essence of Diwali alive with traditions, but add a flavour of newness too, keeping in mind everyone’s health perspective. “I come from a health-conscious family. We don’t end up making a lot of sweets or fried stuff for festivals. We make traditional laddoos, kajukatlis, etc, and my mom has been playing around, making sugar-free sweets.”

Getting back to his show, Manan talks about expectations. “I have no expectations. I focus on my performance. I only have one expectation, which is of me, that I want to perform to the best of my abilities. I expect that everyone should enjoy watching me on screen.”

Here’s wishing all our readers a very Happy Diwali!!
