Actor Moheet Singh is seen as Lakshay Parekh in Sony SAB‘s Kyunki Papa Kehte Hain, the family entertainer produced by Yash Patnaik and Mamta Patnaik under Inspire Films. The show explores the relationships, emotions and everyday dynamics of a family, with Moheet’s Lakshay bringing his own set of quirks and conflicts to the narrative.

For Moheet, stepping into the character did not feel particularly difficult, as he feels there is a natural connection between his own personality and Lakshay. “Playing the role of Lakshay was not that tough for me. In a parallel world, I’m his twin only,” he says with a laugh.

What immediately caught his attention during the narration was the fact that Lakshay is not someone who is particularly interested in academics and has a complicated relationship with his father. “The first narration was that he’s not a studious guy and has a problem with his father. That caught my attention, and yeah, it’s going well,” Moheet shares.

Preparing for the role also required him to work on a specific aspect of Lakshay’s personality and background. The actor worked extensively on his Gujarati accent and even watched Gujarati films to better understand the culture and family dynamics he needed to portray on screen.

“I worked on the Gujarati accent properly and watched a few Gujarati movies to know about the family happenings,” he explains.

Moheet has previously been part of the Zee TV show Jagriti, but he feels that Lakshay is very different from his earlier character. “The character of Lakshay is totally different from that I played in Jagriti,” he says.

Looking ahead, Moheet believes audiences will enjoy Lakshay’s father-son relationship, the humour surrounding it and the character’s journey. “Surely people will love to see the bond and the thick and thin things between father and son. The humour will really be engaging for people, and people will learn to be true to themselves from my character Lakshay Parekh,” he concludes.
