Chetna Singh, who has been part of shows like Tu Patang Mein Door, Udaariyaan, and Badall Pe Paon Hai, is currently seen as Anmol in Colors TV‘s Tu Juliet Jatt Di, produced by Dreamiyata Entertainment. She shared that she relates to her character a bit, and that was one big reason she came on board the show.

She said, “It was the innocence of Anmol that convinced me to take up the character. She plays a vital role in the script, so I felt I could not miss it. I had to do it. Anmol is a very different character. When I played Aastha in Badal Pe Paon Hai, she was funny, quirky, rebellious, and quite frivolous. The Simran I played in Udaariyaan was also innocent, but not as delicate.”

“Anmol, on the other hand, is extremely innocent, pure, and looks very helpless in Tu Juliet Jatt Di. I relate to her innocence a little because in real life, people say I am very sweet, though I do not know how true that is. But honestly, I am not like Anmol in real life. I recently got married, so trust me, I do not keep quiet. I talk a lot. Anmol is very calm, sweet, and thinks well of everyone, which makes her very different from who I am off-screen,” she added.

However, she mentioned that she did not require any special preparations for her character. She said, “Not specifically, because I am already familiar with Punjabi culture and language. But I did work on adapting the tone and innocence required for Anmol. Since the setting and family portray a traditional Punjabi backdrop, understanding that emotional and cultural space was the most important part of preparation.”

Tu Juliet Jatt Di is based in Punjab, and Chetna shared that she loves her surname in the show. She said, “I have always admired the surname Barad. It sounds powerful. In my previous shows, my surnames were Khanna and Virk, and this time it is Barad, so I love that change.”

“Apart from that, the college storyline and the Heer family beautifully represent Punjabi culture. Unfortunately, there are still families in Punjab whose realities match this story, so the representation feels authentic,” she added.

She also stressed that the show is quite different from other shows. She said, “Typically, in serials, the hero and heroine fall in love, then separate, then reunite. But in our show, the hero and heroine get married first, then hide their marriage in college, and then fall in love.”

“It is a fun, filmy story filled with twists, turns, and drama. I am very sure people are going to love it,” she added.

She is having a gala time shooting with her co-stars and said, “Working with them has been so much fun. I feel blessed to share screen space with such experienced actors. The actress playing my dadi is actually my mother in real life, so this is the first time I am working on the same show as her, and it feels like a huge blessing. Even though we do not have many scenes together because we belong to different families in the storyline, I am still very grateful that we are part of the same project.”

“Shefali ji, who played my mother in my previous show, is also in this one, so working with her again feels amazing. Heer and Nawab are absolute sweethearts. Heer and I are actually flatmates, so the bond is real both on and off screen. There is also Anshul from Roadies, Anmol, Pradeep, Digvijay sir, and Sangeeta ma’am. The entire cast is wonderful, and working with them does not feel like work. It feels like being in college with friends,” she added.

She also mentioned that working with the ensemble cast has influenced her performance. “Their dedication, energy, and natural approach to scenes push me to perform better every day. The comfort level we share makes the scenes more real and effortless,” Chetna ended.
