Anuj Sachdeva on his new journey with Nach Baliye

I did not sign up for Nach Baliye just to win: Anuj Sachdeva

Unlike most reality show contestants, Anuj Sachdeva, who is taking part in Star Plus couple dance competition Nach Baliye, is not here to win at any cost.

“Both, ex Urvashi Dholakia and I are non-dancers. So, rather than striving to win, I prefer to use this opportunity to pick up a new skill and impress my audiences.”

“Courtesy Nach, I will now be known not only as a TV and film actor but also as someone who can shake a leg. I can also rightfully boast about it on my Instagram profile.”

“I still remember many years back, I had taken part in the Mr Grasim pageant but did not reach the top. But where is the winner today, and I am still around,” says Anuj, known for shows such as Roadies 3, Sabki Laadli Bebo, Phir Subah Hogi and Swaragini – Jodein Rishton Ke Sur. His last fiction outing was a cameo in Ek Bhram Sarvagun Sampanna. He has also done a couple of flicks like Delhi Height and Love Shagun.

“I don’t want to land up in such a situation where people say you won despite being undeserving. Also, the trophy is not indicative of your hard work. I alone know how much I have sacrificed for my above goal.”

So how has been the initial ride?

“It took us a few days to get the hang of who is doing what. Our choreographers are really helping. God willing, our pain and sweat shall reap sweet rewards.”

What is the X-factor apart from the talent that is needed to go the whole hog?

“Entertaining zeal. Also, will power to stay the course. I also don’t believe in resorting to various kinds of antics just to attract attention, for at the end of the day, you do get exposed.”

“Having said that, right now I am cool, but down the road, if irked enough, I will give it back. And once I start talking, others have to listen. Being honest, I can’t fake stuff including anger.”

He does not think that working with his ex should be an issue. “We are now friends without past baggage, unlike some other bickering jodis” “Our biggest worry is not compatibility, but taking the stress of 15 weeks (lesser prep time as contest really heats up), which certainly will be tough. Luckily, Urvashi has won Bigg Boss 6, so knows how to keep calm. Further, my unruffled demeanour should also help.”

So who would be your stiffest opponent? “I am only competing with myself. Everybody is trying to win in their own unique way, but like I said, I am not in that race.”
