Jaswir Kaur who is seen playing differentiated roles in shows Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Anupamaa gets into a conversation.

People have got to know the other side of me through Devika in Anupamaa: Jaswir Kaur

Jaswir Kaur the versatile actress has been part of some differentiated work on TV!! While she showed her prowess in the cop-based show CID, she has also been playing entertaining roles in shows Waaris, Sasural Simar Ka etc.

Now, Jaswir is enjoying her second innings in the TV industry with two brilliantly etched roles, that of Parmeet in Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Devika in Anupamaa.

Jaswir who is married to Vishal Madlani is blessed with a baby girl Nyra.

Jaswir who has mostly been roped in for the negative roles is extremely happy and satisfied to be playing the role of Devika, in Rajan Shahi’s numero uno series Anupamaa.

Says Jaswir, “I am blessed to be playing such roles. Being a dancer too, expressions are my forte. It is not difficult for me doing a role like Parmeet, that is my role in Shakti. Talking of Devika, Devika is more like me. So I am happy that I am getting to explore differentiated characters, at the same time.”

Talking about Devika and the show of Anupamaa, “Being a woman, we have definitely experienced something similar to what Anupamaa is facing. When you are fighting for yourself, you tend to fall weak. But here, Devika is standing up for her friend. So there is all the power and confidence. Every individual has to fight back for his /her own self. In today’s world, it is important to be showing up and expressing yourself well.”

Rupali Ganguly and Jaswir have known each other for years. But working together has indeed created a greater bond. “She is a brilliant actor. We are not new as actors. We both are very comfortable. Our bonding happened naturally off the screen. We both are fun-loving. We talk a lot about our characters.”

Tell her that Devika is being missed now, and Jaswir s quick to say, “Anupamaa does not need Devika now. She has grown to be a confident person. She is fighting back in her own way (smiles). But yes, I have been getting lot of messages asking for my return. I need to ask Rajan Sir about it (smiles).”

Going to the character of Parmeet, Jaswir states, “Parmeet is a police officer’s wife. She has her own confident persona. She loves her son Virat but dislikes Heer. She is the typical drama-oriented mother-in-law.”

“As Parmeet, she wants her son to get a better girl in life. She feels that Heer is not a good match for her son. She is also justified in whatever she wants for her son.”

Jaswir who took a three years break from television to embrace motherhood says, “When I was approached initially for Shakti, I was apprehensive to begin with. But then I took it as I was starting afresh post becoming a mother. As for playing Devika in Anupamaa, there were no second thoughts. I had to play her. And I am thankful to Rajan Sir for giving me this role.”

“Whenever I am home, I am with my kid. I do nothing but spend time with her. Life is interesting with work and family being given priority,” avers Jaswir.

“I planned my family when I wanted to. I am blessed with a baby girl now. Work is also smiling at me. What more do I want? (laughs).”

Last but not the least, Jaswir says that whenever she is not doing a negative role, she is much more grateful. “I am glad that Devika happened. I have mostly landed up doing negative roles. So now, people have connected with me more and have known the other side of me. They have stopped abusing me for my negative roles. Instead, I am being thanked as Devika is being a solid support for Anupamaa (smiles).”
