Actress Chhavi Pandey has entered Sony SAB’s medical drama, Hui Gumm Yaadein, taking on the role of Dr Preeti—a vibrant yet deeply dedicated professional who brings a fresh dynamic to the screen. She is known for her roles in TV shows Anupamaa, Ladies Special 2, Kaal Bhairava Rahasya 2 and more.
Speaking about what drew her to the role, Chhavi shared her affection for Dr Preeti’s dual nature. “Personally, Dr Preeti is fun, talkative, a little clumsy and carefree. But the moment she’s in the hospital, she’s completely focused and serious about her work. That contrast makes her really interesting. As an actor, switching between those two sides was the most enjoyable part for me.”
Stepping into Dr Preeti’s shoes allowed Chhavi to explore a persona vastly different from her real-life self. “She’s actually quite different from me. I’m much more organised and quieter, whereas Preeti is full of energy and adorably clumsy. That’s what made playing her so much fun. I got to step into a personality that’s very different from my own,” she says.
Preeti has so many layers—she’s emotional, fun, quirky, and at the same time, being a doctor comes with a lot of responsibility.
Reuniting with actor Iqbal Khan on set made transitioning into the show smooth and comfortable. “It was really easy because I’ve worked with Iqbal before. We already shared a great comfort level. He’s a wonderful actor, and working with him makes every scene feel effortless and natural.”
While Chhavi has previously played a doctor, exploring Dr Preeti offers a full-fledged opportunity to dive into a multifaceted character. “What really excited me about Dr Preeti was that I’d never played a character like this on television before. I had played a doctor years ago, but it was a short story, so I never got the chance to explore the role properly. Preeti has so many layers—she’s emotional, fun, quirky, and at the same time, being a doctor comes with a lot of responsibility. It felt challenging in the best way, and as an actor, that’s exactly what I look for.”
Joining an ongoing show midway can often be daunting, but the team’s welcoming environment made her feel right at home from day one. Chhavi states about this journey, “It’s been amazing. Everyone has been so warm and welcoming. Even though I joined the show midway, I never felt like an outsider. Usually it takes time to settle in, but this team made me feel comfortable from day one. Everyone is extremely talented, and there’s a very positive energy on set, which I think really reflects on screen.”
Chhavi, who looks forward to this journey with Hui Gumm Yaadein, ends by saying, “Right now, I’m just enjoying playing the role and exploring everything this character has to offer.”
