Adrija Roy, currently seen as Raahi in Star Plus and Rajan Shahi’s Anupamaa, will get engaged to Vignuesh Iyer on January 25. The intimate ceremony will be held at his farmhouse and is expected to be attended by close family members and friends. On the special occasion of Republic Day, Adrija shares the most beautiful memories connected to Republic Day from her childhood. The day, she says, was always filled with excitement, warmth, and a strong sense of togetherness at home.
“I have some very fond memories of Republic Day celebrations as a child,” Adrija says. “It was not just about watching the parade on television. It was about the whole feeling in the house. Everyone would wake up early, the TV would be switched on, and the entire family would sit together to watch it.”
She adds that for her, the most exciting part of the day came after the parade ended. “As soon as we got a hint that the parade was over, we would run to our terrace,” she shares with a smile. “We all knew that the helicopters were going to come any moment.”
Talking about that special sight, Adrija says, “Watching helicopters flying across the sky and dropping tri-colour balloons felt magical. We would shout with joy, wave our hands, and try to spot the colours first. It truly felt like the sky itself was celebrating with us.”
The actress further says that those simple moments slowly taught her the meaning of freedom and unity. “At that age, we did not understand big words like patriotism, but we could feel the love for our country in our hearts,” she adds.
Even today, Republic Day continues to hold a special place in her life. She says she makes it a point to watch the parade whenever her schedule allows. “It takes me back to a simpler time, when happiness meant running to the terrace and looking up at the sky,” she says.
Adrija concludes by saying that such memories never fade. “Those tri-colour balloons in the sky are not just a memory. They are emotions that will always stay with me,” she adds.
