Indian television’s popular actress Gurdeep Kohli became a household name after portraying the character of Dr. Juhi Singh in Sanjivani which earned her accolades. After that there was no looking back, she went on enchanting masses through her roles in shows like Sinndoor Tere Naam Ka, Kasamh Se, Best Of Luck Nikki, Diya Aur Baati Hum and Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane.
The actress is currently inspiring audience through her powerful character Sethji in Zee TV’s Sethji.
Gurdeep believes although she is playing a mother to a grown-up actor, she is the central character of the soap.
“I have been an actor for a very long time. My contemporaries are also playing the role of a mother on small screen but my character is different because I play the title role. My maturity as an actor is seen through my portrayal. I love the command that my role Sethji has. I understand the character and deliver my performance,” says the actress.
The lady further adds that she is inspiring women through her character and show. “There are single mothers who are struggling for their children. In this man’s world Sethji is inspiring for all of them. There are people who consider women as secondary. A lady is always behind a man but we are trying to showcase how powerful a woman is and she can fight for her rights. She is no less than a man.”
Gurdeep has been on TV for more than a decade now, talking about how TV has changed over the years, she avers, “Although there are no major changes, the space has evolved. I feel reality shows have taken over.”
Lastly, when we ask Gurdeep about the secret of his stable marriage, she quips, “It is completely on our understanding and compatibility. Arjun is an understanding husband and he is the best father to our children. When I am shooting he is with the kids and vice versa. We mutually decide and are always there with our kids.”
