Actor Vineet Raina, known for his memorable performances in shows like Punar Vivah, Lapataganj – Ek Baar Phir, Tum Hi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi, Kaala Teeka, Meri Gudiya, and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and recently in Shirdi Wale Sai Baba, shared his candid thoughts on the growing influence of social media. The actor, who was also seen in the OTT series Kasak, spoke about the opportunities and challenges that platforms like Instagram bring in today’s digital age.
“Over a period of time, Instagram has become a popular and very useful platform if used responsibly, just as a digital tool, to grow personally, for networking or use it for business purposes. It is one of the best at the moment. It is the need of the hour, and people are loving it and giving it attention,” he said.
At the same time, Vineet acknowledged the growing concern around social media addiction, especially among younger users. “Absolutely true, there is no doubt that people have become addicted to this attention, especially younger generations, so social media user capping and regulations must be there,” he added.
Speaking about privacy, the actor emphasised that it is ultimately a personal choice. “It is totally subjective. People are absolutely free to choose what to share and how much to share, or not to share, their personal life moments or to what extent they feel comfortable sharing things publicly. I personally don’t share my personal life on social media apart from what I feel is my responsibility, being a public figure, to inform my fans. To share or not to share, it is just a choice, and I have made mine,” he explained.
Vineet also highlighted how the platform has created new opportunities for young talent. He says, “Younger generations are exploring the platform and using it to become influencers and make huge money. The platform has helped talented individuals showcase their skills, establish their name, and earn recognition for themselves. I am using the platform to connect with my audience, expand my reach and balance the screen time with other important events that need my time.”
Reflecting on the broader impact of technology, he shared, “I feel digitalisation has made life super convenient, and you can reach out to a person in a flash. I believe that the digital world is amazing and we are still to witness its full potential.”
He concluded with a word of caution for users navigating the online space. “Social media is a virtual world. Not everything you see or hear is real. Stay alert. Do not believe blindly or get carried away by things or people. Be responsible and use the tool to grow.”
