Actress Shubhangi Atre who has been winning hearts in the role of Angoori Bhabhi in &TV’s long-running show Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai talks to IWMBuzz.com about her methods of beating the summer heat. She gives us an insight into her wardrobe necessities during summer and also the foods that keep her cool and healthy.
Says Shubhangi about changing her wardrobe to suit the summer season, “I do it every few months when the season changes. Honestly, it is like therapy for me! I get rid of what I don’t wear and bring in lighter, comfy clothes. For summer, I keep it simple – no heavy outfits. I love wearing quirky co-ord sets and cotton sarees with fun blouses.”
“One of my favourite summer hacks goes like this – I freeze aloe vera gel into ice cubes – feels amazing on the skin in the morning! I also keep a mini face roller in the fridge. It’s my little trick to stay cool even when the AC stops working!”
On handling shoot in between the heat, Shubhangi says, “It can get really tiring! I always carry a huge bottle of water with mint, cucumber, and lemon in it – I call it my “spa in a bottle.” I also wear cotton inners under my costume. It helps with the heat. And rose water spray is a must – it keeps my face feeling fresh and helps me feel a little glam even when it’s super hot.”
On the food for summer, the actress states, “Summer turns me into a total fruit lover – I eat loads of watermelon, mangoes, and lychees. I also love chilled chaas with some jeera. It’s so refreshing! But I completely avoid fried food. Once I had bhajiyas during a hot shoot break, and I needed two hours, a nap, and a fan to recover. Never again!”
She has many vivid childhood memories of summer. “I remember playing for hours in the backyard with my cousins. We would make our own ice lollies using fruit juice and sneak them in between games. My favourite memories are of beach picnics with my family – building sandcastles, swimming, and just having fun. And those summer nights were the best – sitting with my parents and listening to stories. Life was so simple back then – and so joyful.”
