Actress Shubhangi Atre, who has been a part of shows like Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Havan, Chidiya Ghar, and Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain!, believes that behind the glamour of the entertainment world, there is a lot of silent pressure that people don’t always see. Talking about long-term stress in the industry, she says that artists are often expected to stay strong and cheerful, even when they are struggling inside.
“The stress in our industry is very real,” she says. “People only see the final performance, but they don’t see the long working hours, emotional scenes, and constant expectations. We are also human beings, and sometimes the pressure becomes too much.”
Speaking about actors and singers stepping away at the peak of their careers, she adds that such decisions are not always about ambition or success. “Sometimes it is about survival,” she says. “If your mind and body are tired, taking a step back is not weakness. It is self-respect and self-care.”
Shubhangi also talks about how fame can make it harder to focus on health. “When you are famous, people expect you to always be available and perfect,” she says. “There is a fear that if you slow down, you may lose opportunities. But slowly, people are understanding that no success is worth losing your health.”
She feels that the conversation around mental health in the entertainment world is slowly changing. “Earlier, people were told to just keep working and not complain,” she adds. “Now artists are openly talking about therapy, breaks, and emotional well-being. This is a positive change.”
Talking about celebrities being judged for stepping back, Shubhangi says the narrative needs to change. “Choosing peace over pressure is not weakness,” she says. “Every person has a limit, and protecting your mental and physical health should always come first.”
