Actor Gaurav Singh, known for his work in television and projects such as Shiksha Mandal, Devanshi, and Krishna Kanhaiya, believes travelling is as much about discovering a place as it is about taking a step back from the usual pace of life. He enjoys experiences that allow him to connect with a destination beyond its popular tourist attractions, whether it is admiring historic architecture or wandering through unfamiliar streets. A traveller who likes to balance exploration with unhurried moments, Gaurav feels some of the best memories are made simply by being present.

“I think I’m a mix of an explorer and a slow traveller. I love discovering new places, experiencing different cultures, trying local food and understanding the history behind a place. Architecture fascinates me because every city has its own character and stories to tell. I enjoy a little adventure, but I also love those moments when you can simply sit somewhere beautiful, soak in the surroundings and do absolutely nothing,” he says.

France is one destination that has stayed with him long after his visit. He was particularly drawn to its streets, art and historic buildings, which left a lasting impression on him.

“I’m someone who can spend hours admiring buildings and their details. What I love about travelling is that a place doesn’t always leave you with just photographs; sometimes, it leaves you with a feeling that stays with you long after you’ve returned home,” he adds.

For Gaurav, travelling with his wife makes these experiences even more special. “For me, travelling is a way of learning without sitting in a classroom. It opens your mind to different cultures, lifestyles and ways of thinking. As an actor, I also find it creatively enriching because observing people, their behaviour and their little nuances helps me understand human nature better,” he shares.

Iceland and Egypt are high on his bucket list. While Iceland attracts him with its Northern Lights and dramatic landscapes, Egypt fascinates him with its ancient civilisation and magnificent pyramids.

When it comes to finding peace and perspective, Gaurav recommends Austria’s picturesque villages, including Gosau, Bad Goisern and Hallstatt. Their mountains, lakes and slower pace of life offer the kind of escape he appreciates. As he puts it, sometimes the best way to experience a place is to stop treating every day like an itinerary.
