The ‘Women’ that we see in our daily lives can be described by the ‘many’ hats they wear, and by the natural strengths they bring to their lives and to the people around them. On the occasion of Women’s Day, we at IWMBuzz.com talk to eminent actors who have ticked off every bucket list possible in becoming graceful, confident and outspoken individuals. We have senior actress Lubna Salim with us, who is presently seen in the strong role of Dimple Tandon, mother-in-law to Aarambhi in the Colors TV show, Dr Aarambhi.

One word/line to describe yourself will be:

I am me — self-aware, unfazed, constantly evolving.

What’s a skill you think women are just naturally better at?

Adaptability. Women are naturally adaptable. We navigate through changes without losing our emotional balance.

The most inspiring women today are the ones evolving quietly — choosing self-respect, financial independence, and emotional awareness every single day.

If you could have a virtual coffee with any famous woman, who would it be? What will you talk about?

Definitely, the one and only MERYL STREEP. She is an icon. So dignified and graceful, an outspoken advocate of women in our industry! I would talk to her about understanding her craft of portraying realistic characters, and also ask her how she keeps her public persona separate from her onscreen portrayals.

Who is the woman who is currently killing it in her field?

There seems to be a sudden influx of women riding high in all fields. Sometimes the most inspiring women aren’t on magazine covers, so I cannot pinpoint any one. I see them all around me. The most inspiring women today are the ones evolving quietly — choosing self-respect, financial independence, and emotional awareness every single day.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received from another woman?

‘Your Smile’ is your strength.

Your inspiring line to young girls will be:

You know you have the power to change anything in this world. Don’t misuse it.

Your role in Dr Aarambhi is totally different from what we have seen of you in all these years. Tell us what made you take it up and about your preparations.

What attracted me was the contradiction in her. She is loud, yet she is formidable. She carries her position like a weapon. I took it up because it scared me a little — and as an actor, that’s usually a good sign. Dimple Tandon is harsh, but for the values she follows and fights for. And of course, I took it up for it had the eye-catching, classy look. The moment I’m in those clothes, I transform. My character starts speaking to me.

What do you like the most about your character?

Her moral complexity. She isn’t trying to be liked. She is trying to be right by her own code. And that makes her unpredictable… which, as an actor, is delicious to play.
