With over two decades of creative leadership across films, television, and web series, seasoned industry veteran Imran Mir has stepped into a dynamic new chapter of his career. Having helmed major television successes for esteemed banners such as Balaji Telefilms, Shashi Sumeet Productions, Essel Vision Productions, and more, Imran has consistently been driven by a singular passion: compelling, high-impact storytelling.

Now, bridging his vast experience in content creation with strategic leadership, Imran has officially launched his new banner, MagicLight Productions, co-founded alongside his wife and creative, Mala Punjabi and actor and sister-in-law, Kamya Punjabi.

Transitioning from a Creative Director responsible for setting up rating-topping shows to a Producer is a natural evolution for Imran. His extensive background—working closely with broadcast networks and creative teams—gives him a distinct edge in managing both the artistic and business sides of the industry. “It was just an instinctive decision to turn producer because, as a creative person, it’s easy for me to control the production aspects knowing my creative part very well in content creation. It becomes relatively easier for someone with prior channel experience to deal with various networks and set up desirable teams for each creation!”

MagicLight Productions has already hit the ground running. The banner has established a strong initial footprint in short-form entertainment, producing high-engagement vertical content for platforms like Kuku TV. However, the team’s ambitions stretch far beyond digital micro-dramas.

Looking ahead, MagicLight Productions is actively pitching original concepts to major General Entertainment Channels (GECs), with plans to launch full-scale television productions shortly. The core mission is to create diverse formats—across all mediums and networks- building MagicLight into a benchmark banner for quality entertainment.

Beyond expanding across national networks, Imran carries a deeply personal vision for the growth of local storytelling in his home region of Kashmir. Recognising the lack of established, full-scale production infrastructure in the valley, Imran aims to bridge this gap by bringing professional production standards and opportunities directly to the state.
“Our broader goal is to create diverse formats across all mediums and networks, establishing MagicLight as a highly reputed banner. On a personal level, I want to build a strong production presence in Kashmir. My objective is to be a key content producer in my homeland and bring its local talent and stories to mainstream screens.”
