Richa Yamini, drawing from her extensive creative background in the entertainment industry, steps into the role of Producer for the first time with the new Colors TV show, Seher Hone Ko Hai. Her impressive work on popular shows like Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan and Pandya Store immediately comes to mind. With this new project, she’s excited to introduce a unique concept to the audience, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her creative journey with Seher Hone Ko Hai. The show is produced by Richa Yamini’s banner Icecream Dreams and Aarambh Entertainment.

We at IWMBuzz.com got into an exclusive, detailed talk with Richa, and it is for our readers to read.

Talking about the show and its concept, Richa says, “As the show title suggests, Seher Hone Ko Hai, every mother wants a better life for her daughter. Even if you see happy mothers, they will want to see a happier daughter. So the show is about that. It is a universal appeal. All of us, in a way, are waiting for that dawn to break. Every person has angst and dark places, and you want the sun to touch those places. There are many characters in the show, and all of them are waiting for their dawn. It is not just about Seher’s story, but it is about every character in the show. The dawn is for Kausar, the dawn is for Seher, it is for Mahid and more.”

We have all seen Parth as a young, brash boy in Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan. Over the years, I have really seen him change and mature as a performer.

Our first question to her is about the return of Mahhi Vij. Curious to know how Richa convinced Mahhi for the role, as she was not seen on TV for long, she laughs it off and says, “When we did a test with Mahhi, she just fit the character. It helped as she is a mother. The story is Kausar’s journey. She has the dream of giving her daughter a better life. Yes, it took time to convince Mahhi. Now I am happy that she is enjoying playing the character.”

On working with the new talent, Rishita Kothari, Richa states, “I like taking fresh faces. Rishita is doing quite well for a first timer. She emotes very well. Finding her was very difficult. We wanted someone fresh, as we were talking about a new dawn. We had endless casting struggles in casting Seher. We were looking for the girl for the longest time. We finalised a girl, but did not go ahead with her. That was when we spotted Rishita in her reels. When we met her, she really clicked as she had the spunk needed for the role of Seher.”

The litmus test, as always, is the audience. We have put our heart and soul into the show and have been working hard on all the characters.

And on the role of Mahid, she avers, “The character of Mahid is conflicted. He has a dark past and is completely consumed by that dark past. How will light come into his life? It is his journey. When the story unfolds, you will find out that there is a reason for his complexity. That is his journey, how he becomes the man that people love. In simple words, Mahid will evolve as a character through the show’s journey.”

On her long association with Parth Samthaan, Richa says, “We have all seen Parth as a young, brash boy in Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan. When we started doing the show 12 years ago, all of them were very young. Over the years, I have really seen Parth change and mature as a performer. When I was writing Mahid, I felt that he would fit the role and that he could bring out the layers that the character demands. Whatever we have shot till now, he has done amazingly well. Fingers crossed, I hope people like Parth as Mahid.”

Talking about handling every minute detail when it comes to the Urdu diction and the Muslim backdrop, Richa quips, “One of the most difficult tasks for all of the cast is getting the diction and nuances of Urdu right. We are trying to stay true to the community in terms of language, culture and every bit of detailing. Parth has done well in adapting to it. You will feel that he is not Manik, not Parth and is only Mahid.

Detailing more about the concept, Richa says, “The appeal of Kausa and Seher is something that every mother and daughter will like. They will fight each battle that comes their way and support each other. I think that is true for every Indian household. It is a universal thought that until and unless your mother supports you in your dreams, you really can’t achieve it. There has to be one support in your house which will back you to fly. That is the mother.”

Talking about Apurva Agnihotri’s character in the show, she says, “Apurva plays the character of hope. It is where Kausar and Seher will want to reach. He is a doctor, he is evolved in his thinking. He will become the support of the mother and daughter.”

On bringing her first shows as Producer, Richa says, “I am the showrunner and producer. But my priority is always the story. I have done Pandya Store, Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan for different producers. Here, Aarambh Entertainment is giving me support on this show. They have been kind to me in making the show happen. What we would want is a long, successful run for the show, and we are having our fingers crossed.”

She adds, saying, “What I would want from the show is the feel of a unique setup, and the universal emotion of the mother’s aspiration for the daughter to click. I would want the audience to gain this emotion from the show.”

On facing the acid test now with the public to accept Seher Hone Ko Hai, Richa says, “The litmus test, as always, is the audience. We give our product to them and see if they like it. We have put our heart and soul into the show and have been working hard on all the characters. All the actors have adapted well to the characters they play. We have tried to bring actors who have not been seen often on TV, for the simple reason that we wanted their characters to shine.”

Best of luck!!
