From Greek theatres to packed cricket stadiums, arenas have always had a special way of bringing people together. Star Plus is now giving that idea a fun, high-tech spin with India Ke Top 1%. Every episode will see Anil Kapoor at the centre of a massive amphitheatre-style set, interacting with 100 Indians from completely different walks of life. From students, homemakers and dukaanwalas to YouTubers, magicians and real estate agents, and from rural towns to big cities, the arena brings together a colourful mix of personalities, stories and professions.
With cameras covering the set from every direction, there are no blind spots, so every nervous smile, confused expression and victory celebration is captured. The arena also features 100 individual tablets that allow contestants to play in Hindi or English, along with giant screens that keep everyone connected to the action. Personal status lighting reflects each contestant’s journey and changes the mood of the game as the colours shift from blue to red. The real showstopper is the circular LED floor, which comes alive with gameplay graphics and changing percentage levels as contestants move closer to the Top 1%. Built in just one month by hundreds of people, the set is glossy and futuristic, yet colourful, warm and inviting.
Speaking about designing Star Plus’ India Ke Top 1% set, Varsha Jain shares, “Creating the set of India Ke Top 1% has been an incredibly exciting and creatively satisfying experience. To give the show a premium, larger-than-life feel, we explored multiple options for almost two to three months before finalizing this space. It then took us another month, along with the hard work of hundreds of people, to build the entire arena. Every element has been carefully designed and handcrafted down to the finest detail. We wanted the set to feel glossy and futuristic, but also warm, fun and inviting. For me, the individual status lighting, which changes with each contestant’s journey, and the circular LED floor, which brings the gameplay and percentage levels alive, are the biggest highlights. Despite the scale and technology, the set never feels intimidating, and that balance is what makes it truly special.”
