Anil Kapoor’s India Ke Top 1% on Star Plus is earning praise week after week, turning weekends into fun game nights for families and friends with its engaging questions and interactive Play Along experience on JioHotstar. Adding to the entertainment are Anil’s heartwarming exchanges with contestants and personal anecdotes that often bring their own surprises. This weekend, Anupamaa star Rupali Ganguly joins the fun, and a conversation about women owning their own homes leads Anil to reveal how his daughter Sonam Kapoor bought her own flat with her hard-earned money.

During the episode, Rupali speaks about her character Anupama’s dream of having a home of her own, highlighting the independence and sense of belonging it represents. She shares, “Duniya mein ek kona aisa ho jo sirf hamara apna ho. Har aurat ko khud ki kamai se, khud ke pairon par khade hokar apna ek ghar banana chahiye, chhota sa hi sahi.”

Her words prompt Anil Kapoor to recall his daughter Sonam Kapoor’s early days in the film industry and how she went on to buy her own home.

“Sonam ne apne khud ke paise se apna ghar banaya. Mujhe kharidne ki zaroorat hi nahi padi. Khud apni mehnat se banaya,” Anil shares.

Recalling how she began her career, he continues, “Woh aayi Singapore se padh ke aur Bhansali sahab ki assistant bani. Bhansali sahab ne usse break diya. Thode-thode paise jama karke unhone apna ek khud ka flat kharida.”

Sonam, who made her acting debut opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya in 2007, began her journey by assisting the filmmaker on Black. As Anil recounts, she went on to save her earnings little by little until she could buy a flat of her own.
