Laado 2 stars Avika Gor and Meghna Malik. The sequel of the namesake show was eagerly anticipated however, it fell short of expectations in terms of TRPs. “I haven’t been formally informed about the last day of the telecast,” Avika said of the show’s termination to a leading daily. “But yeah, I have heard that the show is likely to finish shortly.” The actress admits that the storyline that played out on screen differed from what she had been told. “At first, I was awestruck by Anushka, my character, who is a strong, independent, and educated lady. I’ve always wanted to play a character who inspires others.

The script that was narrated to me, however, turned out to be different from what actually happened. There were just too many modifications done much too soon. Ammaji (Meghna Malik) was scheduled to die after four months in the original script, and Anushka was supposed to take her place. Ammaji’s character, on the other hand, died after only a month. Yuvraj (Shaleen Malhotra) was murdered off the program shortly after, and a new person (Siddharth Arora) was cast opposite me. The move from Veerpur to Chandigarh was also significant.” She goes on to say that her character’s behaviors were unreasonable. “I had to persuade myself to relate to the character every day.”

Given that Anushka is a lawyer, there were times when I was puzzled why she acted the way she did. “What I was doing was completely illogical. I wouldn’t have questioned their rationale if they had told me that this show would be similar to my last show Sasural Simar Ka, which was all about ‘chudails’ and ‘daayans.’ To put it another way, I wasn’t expecting the narrative to end up the way it did. But it’s a big brand, and I’ve gained a lot from experience.”
